A psychological/psychoanalytical reading of the play can help us understand the characters in Oedipus the King. Consider how psychological and psychoanalytic concepts illuminate why certain characters act the way they do. The way we get insight into the characters is through their words/dialogue, spoken thoughts (plays are meant to be performed), actions, appearance, and interactions.
Analyze THREE characters. Each character analysis should be at least 200 words (so that will be a minimum of 600 words total), not including quotes from the text or external sources. For a bit of extra credit, you can analyze up to two additional characters. Word counts still apply.
By nature, all arguments are debatable. Use the best evidence [primary (the play should be your main source) and secondary texts] to support your claims. Make sure to use MLA format to cite all sources.
Note: Critical lenses do not exist in a bubble. For instance, you can easily combine psychoanalytic and feminist lenses. But for this assignment, I want you to focus on looking through the psychological/psychoanalytic critical lens. If there is some overlap, that is fine. But the psychoanalytic should be at the forefront.
