Discuss what should be included in your physical exam and what abnormal findings you would expect to find

Each student will choose a complex arrhythmia from the list below. The choice should include an arrhythmia that you may not be as familiar with regarding diagnosis and full treatment. A thorough discussion of the definition of the arrhythmia, electrocardiographic characteristics, incidence, etiology, and prevalence should be included. Additionally, the pathophysiology and electrophysiology should be detailed within the discussion. Differential Diagnoses A comprehensive listing of the differential diagnoses for the selected arrhythmia must be included. These may include other arrhythmias or medical conditions that could mimic the arrythmia. For each differential, briefly describe your diagnostic reasoning process (i.e. what is entailed in the rule-in or rule-out process). This may include labs, EP study, cardiac catheterization, etc. and what criteria would be met to rule in/out the differential. The typical presentation of the selected arrhythmia should be addressed in this section. What would you expect to ascertain in the HPI? What are common triggers, pertinent positives/negatives in the ROS, medical or family history, etc.? Discuss what should be included in your physical exam and what abnormal findings you would expect to find. What labs and diagnostics should be ordered for a complete work-up and what abnormal findings would you expect to find? Why? Discuss a comprehensive plan of care for the selected arrhythmia. Include pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and interventional elements. What type of follow-up is required? What type of patient/family education should be included?
