The purpose of this critical thinking assignment is to examine both sides of a controversial topic in developmental psychology. Choose one of the Opposing Perspectives features from the chapters in your textbook as your topic and write a 4- to 6-page paper providing an argument supporting one side or the other with the current psychological literature.
Include the following sections in your paper with appropriate headings. (I should clearly see these sections.) Brief introduction presenting both sides of the controversy in your own words (include why you chose this topic). Summary and analysis of the central argument(s) supporting both positions. Provide a well-developed examination of the evidence on both sides. Recognize nuances of the issue. Clearly distinguish between fact and opinion. Statement of your position on the issue with justification including references to the academic literature in developmental psychology.
 This means you should build a case and not just state that you support one side or the other. You may include personal examples and reflections, but there must be citations to academic sources with explanations of the scientific evidence to strengthen your argument. This section will be the bulk of the paper. Conclusion: Accurately identify conclusions based on information presented in your paper. Assess implications and consequences of the chosen position as it relates to lifespan development with a brief evaluative summary. Discuss whether you were surprised by your findings and whether your previously held assumptions or opinion were challenged in any way. References
The body of the paper should be 4-5 pages in length. It must be typed and double-spaced with standard margins. You should have a cover sheet with your name, the course, date, my name, and the title of the paper. You must also have a reference section, properly citing all the sources that you use in APA style. The entire paper is to be written in APA style including in-text citations. You are expected to use sources other than just the textbook. The textbook may be one source, but the paper must include at least 3 references from other academic sources (i.e., peer-reviewed journal articles).
