Scenario
Angela has been working with Ahmed and Sylvia for several years who are both 70 years old and their children live in another country. Ahmed has Alzheimers disease (a degenerative form of dementia) and has become increasingly violent towards Sylvia. Sylvia has a hearing impairment and can only communicate by using sign language. Ahmed has also lost the ability to distinguish between night and day and spends most nights awake and walking around the house. Angela the care worker has noticed that caring for Ahmed is increasingly exhausting for Sylvia who is Ahmeds informal carer. Prior to his dementia both Ahmed and Sylvia discussed that they never want to live in a care home and would rather be cared for at home. Angela discusses the present situation with her line manager and both Ahmed and Sylvias children. They then decide to amend Ahmeds support plan and recommend that Ahmed be moved to a care home to give Sylvia a break from her caring role. Sylvia is very upset when told of this and feels that she has not been consulted. She feels that she can no longer trust Angela and her children and believes that they are undermining her role in caring for Ahmed. Sylvia strongly objects to this recommendation and continues to care for Ahmed at home.Using the case scenario above apply your answers to the following in a report.
