In traditional Inuit society the healing of the sick is the responsibility of the shaman, who contacts spirits by singing, dancing, and drum beating. MK believes that people, community, nature, and spirituality are interconnected and interrelated. While MK seeks treatment for physical illnesses from Western medicine, she believes that illness is a result of disharmony with physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health, thus seeking the healing powers of the shaman.
