Final Term PaperNeuroscience

Topic: Final Term Paper- Neuroscience I‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍nstructions To complete this assignment, you need to read 4 peer-reviewed empirical journal articles and write an 8-pages response paper. The empirical journal articles must be related to a topic discussed in the course. It can be articles cited by the textbook, or ones not cited in the textbook. Two of the 4 articles should be reviewed and discussed in detail in your term paper. In the response paper, you need to first introduce, and describe the scope of, the topic of your paper (1-2 pages maximum), then choose a more specific aspect (e.g., the research topic of feature attention) to review major paradigms, theories, findings and/or debates related to this research topic using the studies (i.e., empirical articles) you read as an example supporting evidence. When you describe the studies you read, you need to make clear the research questions, methods, and major findings. How the findings can help to answer the research question should be clearly discussed. You can also find arguments and evidence directly from the textbook. BUT you have to use your own language (You will receive a zero if you copy/paste sentences from others’ work). This part should be 4-6 pages long. Finally, you need to add your own comments on these studies and what specific questions need to be studied further (1-2 page long). The review article should be 8-page long and in APA style (double-spaced, with normal margin, 12-point font). The page number limit does not include the ref‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍erences (or figures if you need any). PAPERS LONGER THAN 8 PAGES WILL NOT BE GRADED. The assignment should be submitted to Canvas “Final term paper – Short option”. YOU ALSO NEED TO SUBMIT THE TWO ARTICLEs YOU DISCUSSED IN DETAIL! You should NOT use direct quotes in your paper. You should NOT copy/paste sentences from other people’s work. If you do so, you will receive zero for this assignment and be reported to the college. If you just make minor modifications to others’ sentences, that is still counted as plagiarism!! Also, please check your plagiarism score after submitting your paper. But you cannot rely on the plagiarism score. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you follow the rule. No late submission will be accepted. Grading: Detailed grading rubric will be given in a lecture video and uploaded to Canvas. An abstract is needed (required) for this long term paper (150-200 words; No separate points are assigned to this part, but will be evaluated together with the last part – students’ critiques/comments.) Introducing research topic (30 points; 1-2 pages long) Reviewing the major paradigms, theories, findings and/or debates related to this research topic (90 points; 4-6 pages long) Concluding with students’ own critiques/comments (30 points; 1-2 pages long.) Course Textbook: Gazzaniga, M., Ivry, R. B., & Mangun, G. R. (2018). Cognitive Neuroscience: The Biology of the Mind (Fifth edition). New York: W. W. Norton &‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍ Company.
