article.
• Demonstrated ability to discuss academic research with clarity and coherence, and to sustain argumentation
on points of theoretical and methodological substance and/or concern.
Assessment Task: Task 1a. Write an article summary
Students are required to select one empirical, peer-reviewed journal article and write a one page summary
analysis (single space, 12 font size) to be submitted online via Turnitin in week 9. Your summary should
include responses to the following:
1. What is the topic?
2. What is the research question/problem/ hypothesis? 3. What are the predictions and the rationale for these
predictions?
4. What methods were used (participants, sampling, materials, procedure)?
5. What were the main results?
6. Are the findings supported by previous research?
7. What are the limitations of the study?
8. What are the implications of the findings?
Task 1b: Presentation on the critical thinking process leading to
the article summary
Students are also required to create a short presentation of about 5-7 slides, where each student will be
expected to demonstrate their mastery of the process of critically analysing a journal article. Please
. Design a PPT deck – similar to what you would have done if presenting in class and submit via Turnitin.
(All summative assignments must be submitted via Turnitin).
. Record an AUDIO FILE of their presentation. This can be done in various formats; although the MP3 file
format is most commonly used and if compressed is a smaller file than an uncompressed audio or video file.
