How frequently do you take your medication?

Data collection Tool
Introduction
Data collection tools are vital when conducting any research. This is because they provide the researcher with a way of obtaining information from the respondents. This study will focuses on collecting data pertaining to hypertension among the elderly people. The evidence to be obtained from this study will help health practitioners to provide high quality health care to the elderly patient diagnosed with hypertension (Roe & Webb 1998). This study will employ questionnaires to collect the data.
Data collection Tools
Questionnaires will be used as a tool of data collection. In this case 8 out of 20 hospitals will be selected using stratified random sampling. The researcher will employ closed-ended questions to gather information from elderly patient aged 65-74years and diagnosed with hypertension. Close-ended questions will be administered to the entire participants with the age of 65 years and above. These questions will help to keep the process of data on going on as well as to clarifying unclear issues (Boswell & Cannon 2011). The questionnaires will be structured and distributed to the respondents. There will be a pilot study will before the main research. This will be aimed at testing the validity and reliability of the structured questions.

Questions on goals of Health People 2020
The four main goals of Healthy People 2020 are: To attain high-quality longer lives free from preventable diseases; to eliminate disparities and improve health of all the groups; and to create an environment that promotes good heath for all the people. Finally to promote the quality of life and health behaviour across all life stage (Trinh-shevrin Islam & Rey 2009). Some of the questions that are going to be asked with respect to healthy people 2020 are in part B of the questionnaire above.
Data points
The table below provides a summary statistic calculated from a given population. Results suggested that scores for females drop further after the age of 75 than males. Males scores tend to fall more drastically after the age of 80. For the age group 65 to 74 years old males were found to be significantly different from females for RE (just significant at the 5% level) and MH (p < 0.01). However for the 75 years and over group males and females are significantly different on PF and BP (p < 0.01) and SF (p < 0.05). Results for the different sex/age groups are given in table 2. Conclusion
Data collection tools play a very significant role in medical field and any other field of research. This is because; they help researchers to collects data from respondent with minimum difficulties. In this study questionnaires will be applied to collect the data from the respondents in the selected hospital. The data to collect will be analysed statistically and relevant recommendations regarding hypertension will be made thereafter.
