Dr. Jones explains to you that a ligation experiment attempted to insert Drosophila DNA into the LacZ gene of the plasmid vector pUC19. (Remember pUC19 has the LacZ gene and an ampr gene.) Stephanie then conducted a transformation experiment to insert products from the ligation experiment into cells of an ampsE.coli strain. You realized that you can still get the data to Dr. Jones by tomorrow so you made two replica plates of the master plate; one replica is on the ampicillin only plate and one is on the X-Gal only plate.
