Journal of Injustice: the goal of the journal is to document and apply critical insights about the world in which we live. It should help you become aware of contemporary issues regarding national identity, race, and ethnicity. Also, examine how white capitalist hetero-patriarchy grants certain people, while denying others, privileges and agency. Grading will not be on the opinions that you express, but on your ability to support those opinions through course material. The Journal of Injustice will be your critical reflections about a current event that occurred in the last five years. Using an assigned reading to help you understand, contextualize, and critique.

Each newspaper/magazine article must be about a specific issue or event that points to an injustice related to gender/sexuality. In other words, the current event you select should be one that you feel wrongly occurred, should have occurred or been discussed differently. Also, needs to be critiqued on the basis of its gender/sexual politics. Because we are limit in time and space, please only discuss current events of injustice that emphasize gender/sexuality.

Also, please only discuss current events of injustice that occur within the Canadian borders or involve Canadians or Canadian policy abroad; or, since Canada is a settler colony, the event of injustice can involve the United Kingdom or the Queen’s empire. Each journal entry should be 3 pages and should take a 3 paragraph structure as indicated below.
Topic Theme: Projansky discusses how rape functions as a trope in Hollywood film narratives. Consider how sexual assault operates similarly to the rape trope, citing Projansky along the way. Be sure to examine how race and class play into the use of the rape trope as well as how the character in question is transformation through the trauma.
