Obesity in the recent past has become prevalent in most countries and is now declared an epidemic in chronic diseases. Çakmur (2017) describes obesity as a condition whereby a person accumulated more than 20% of body fats or more in an average human body. It is projected that more than 2.8 million people will die from obesity (Çakmur, 2017). As a public health concern, health care policies should be created to reduce the level of high morbidity and mortality (Mason, Leavitt & Chaffee, 2016). Therefore, nurses should advocate for this public health issue by creating health care policies that will cater for both long and short-term goals of obesity management.
In order to raise awareness to the most affected group (teenagers), locals and states hospitals are doing obesity campaigns on social media because it is a platform that acts as a backbone to most of the solutions to what one is seeking about obesity management and other world’s problems. Millions of people are currently using social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram in posting pictures and inspirational messages. As a tool, social media is used by motivators and educators to create an uplifting push for the developing issue of obesity. Social media is an open-source used freely by everyone. As a result, the created health care policies are promoted using these platforms to provide the affected population with a required inclusion in the society and lifestyle modifications measures that they should adopt to like healthy eating and living actively (Çakmur, 2017). Social media educate these populations on better ways of living and eating.

Heart disease and stroke is one of the major public health issue that needs to be highlighted more in health policy. According to the latest statistical research done by the American Heart Association, it is the world leading cause of death. That is majorly contributed with the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are many types of cardiovascular disease and social media can be used as appropriate health promotion tool in improving or enhancing public awareness on heart or cardiovascular disease.
Heart disease and stroke is a health condition that leads to death of many people within the society. As a result, social media can be used as a healthcare promotion tool in creating awareness of the condition (Mason, Leavitt, Chaffee, 2016). That is because many people might experience severe symptoms of the condition due to lack of knowledge on adequate preventive measures. With the use of social media, healthcare providers can advertise on various appropriate preventive measures like eating a healthy and well balance diet with low fats and salt. Social media can also be used as a platform for healthcare education in which they can educate the public on healthy behaviors like quitting smoking and appropriate behavior on how to manage stress among others.
Social media can also be used in improving public awareness on Heart disease and stroke by putting various advert on various causes of the condition so that they can me aware and try to prevent it (Jackson, Fraser, & Ash, 2014). With the increased use of modern technology, it becomes a good platform that healthcare providers can use in encouraging patient engagement, and also in sharing accurate health messaging. Healthcare providers can also improve public awareness on heart diseases and stroke through healthcare ads on social media that are to appear within various entertainment materials like songs, movies among others on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram among other platforms.
Generally, heart disease and stroke is one of the major public health issue that needs to be highlighted more in health policy. Social media is an appropriate health promotion tool that can be used in improving public awareness on heart or cardiovascular disease. That is through healthcare ads and healthcare educational programs that can be used in teaching the public on preventive measures, symptoms, and healthy living behaviors to increase awareness.
