SECTION 1 – HEALTH RELATED CONDITION/ISSUE
(Note – section 1 is weighted at 10% of total assignment marks, word count up to 400 words)
o Identify a common health condition or issue amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
o Indicate the prevalence of this health condition/issue amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,
o note the prevalence comparison with non-Indigenous people
o provide possible reasons for the same or difference in the prevalence comparison.
SECTION 2 – HEALTH PROMOTION OR HEALTH CARE PROGRAM/SERVICE
(Note – this section 2 is weighted at 40% of total assignment marks, word count up to 800 words)
o Describe a health promotion or health care program/service that targets the health condition/issue you choose in section 1, that is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. (Note – this subsection word count should be no more than 100-150 words).
o Critically analyse the health promotion or health care program/service you choose in relation to its (Note the second part of this section should be 650-700 words):
o strengths
o limitations
o potential barriers to implementation and access
SECTION 3 – CULTURALLY COMPETENT AND CULTURALLY SAFE CARE PLAN
(Note – this section 3 is weighted at 40% of total assignment marks, word count up to 800 words)
o Considering the health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with the health condition/issue you identified in section 1, develop a culturally competent and culturally safe care plan using the following three (3) strengths-based components:
o culturally respectful
o emphasis on patient/client experience of health care
o access to health care service.
