Learning Outcomes At the end of this module and with further reading you should be able to: Demonstrate a critical awareness of contemporary issues in cancer and palliative care on a local, national and global level. Critically analyse the influence of health promotion activities and screening programmes in relation to the incidence, mortality and survival rates of cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Extend critical understanding of the impact of local, national and global policy related to the functioning of cancer and/or palliative care service providers. Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to make informed decisions in relation to policy frameworks and service provision within cancer and palliative care. Assessment – Component 2 – Critical Essay Word count 2500 +10% This assessment accounts for 60% of the overall module grade. Addresses Learning Outcomes 3 and 4. Beating Cancer: Ambition and Action (England 2016) and Strategic Framework for Action on Palliative and End of Life Care (Scotland 2016) are examples of strategic reports covering cancer and palliative delivery. Using one of these or an equivalent strategic document that underpins cancer or palliative care delivery in your country/region, critically analyse how this impacts on service delivery within your own organisation. If you are be able to identify a strategic document that underpins cancer care delivery in Saudi Arabia, and critically analyse how this impacts on service delivery – that would be awesome. If you can’t find any in Saudi Arabia, please would you use Beating Cancer: Ambition and Action (England, 2016) Assessment marking criteria Component 2 Breakdown of marks Provide a short referenced rationale for the selection of the chosen strategic report (Marks 20) Critically analyse the impact of the strategic report on service delivery within your own organisation (Marks 60) Provide a conclusion summarising the main points from the critical reflection (Marks 15) Outline one thing you have learned from this assessment that you will take back to your practice (Marks 5) Total – 100 marks
