Gender Theory employs some of the basic tenets of Psychoanalytic Theory within the rubric of social discourse (written and verbal social interactions that reinforce social stereotypes regarding proscriptive gender roles and behavior). Keeping that in mind, select one of the stories (graphic stories included) and analyze the story from that critical perspective. How does gendered criticism differ, or not, from a psychoanalytic reading of the story? Does gendered oppression drive the narrative of that story?

Psychoanalytic Theory;

Choose one of the stories in this part of Module Three and give a psychoanalytic interpretation of the story (graphic stories included). How do you apply that premise? Identify the power structure in the story (i.e. who has it and who does not). Who is being oppressed by those who have power, and how does that impact the character?

The content and stories within this part of Module Three deal in some way with oppression and identity. Conclude your journal entry with a connection to your reading of one of the stories (graphic stories included) to which you could identify an incident in your own life where you were oppressed or stereotyped or perhaps oppressed and/or judged someone else by stereotyping them.
