What does the youngest son do at the start of the parable?
What condition does the younger son eventually end up in? Why does he end up in that condition? How does the youngest son decide to improve his situation? What reason does he give?
How do you characterize the behavior of the father?
How do you characterize the older brother’s response to these events?
What connections do you see between the parable and the context in which Jesus tells it (hint: look at the beginning of the chapter)?
For your discussion post, write 300-350 words, responding to all of the following questions:
Explain the role of each of the following characters: the younger son, the older son, and the father.
Based on your interpretation of the parable, and keeping the context in which Jesus tells the parable in mind, who do you think is the main character of the parable? Provide a rationale for your answer.
