•Was the design experimental, quasi-experimental, or non-experimental? What specific design was used?

Before you participate in your discussion below go to pages 171-172 in your Polit and Beck textbook and review Example 1 A Randomized Controlled Trial and Example 2 Quasi-Experimental Design so that you begin to understand other quantitative research designs. Also, read pages 194-195 (Example 1: Sampling and Data Collection in a Quantitative Study) to see how this is done using a quantitative design. Then proceed to your discussion.

In your Polit and Beck text, go to pages 395-402 and read: Appendix A “Anxiety, anger, and blood pressure in children”. Answer the following questions below, then post and discuss with your peers.
•Was the design experimental, quasi-experimental, or non-experimental? What specific design was used?
•What are the threats to the study’s internal validity? What could be said about the study’s external validity?
•What are the major limitations of the design used? Are these limitations acknowledged by the researcher and taken into account in interpreting results?
•Did the report provide adequate information about the data collection procedures? Were data collectors judiciously chosen and properly trained? Where and under what circumstances was data gathered? Was data gathered in a manner that promoted high quality responses (e.g., in terms of privacy, efforts to put respondents at ease, etc?)
•Identify some major potential sources of bias in the sample.
