Question Mark in Dialogue Call-out What is the micro-prospective view of health care delivery? Health care delivery systems are generally evaluated by cost, access, and quality (Shi & Singh, 2017). Looking at a macro-prospective viewpoint, costs are commonly viewed in terms of national expenditures for healthcare and measured as a gross domestic product. A micro-perspective view of health care costs refers to the costs of purchasing coverage and how much the employer will cover and what the consumer must pay out of pocket. For this discussion, you will work in two groups. Part one will discuss the costs from the micro-perspective of a patient with type II diabetes mellitus. The patient is employed, has no complications, on oral medications, male, age 62 yr. Part two will discuss the costs from a population health viewpoint (Medicare). Rubric for group initial posting: From the patients (individual) perspective with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2: What medical costs does he probably have already What future expenses should he plan for What type of care does he need to anticipate needing as he ages From Medicaid managed care’s (Insurer) viewpoint of multiple patients with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2: What is the population data with DM2 What medical costs are expected What are the social factors involved and does this affect costs .
