Section C – Instructions to students
Task instructions: You have been tasked with selecting a suitable project form the tendering website Estimate One:

Your brief is to select a commercial construction project which has a minimum of 1000m2 gross floor area. The height of the building is to be no greater than 3 stories. As you will be required to work in a collaborative team during construction, your final submission may not be accepted by the board to progress through to construction.

The final selection will be made by the construction team which you will be part of. Weekly reporting is required to your direct supervisor.

You will be required to prepare a report on the building and construction planning practices for this project to assist in the final selection process.



Part A :- All students to complete Select an appropriate project based upon the brief provided above. You are required to monitor amendments to the tender documents and discuss the contract options for this project.

Your report is required to include the details stated below but not be restricted only to them:



SECTION 1

1. Authority requirements: Discuss the regulatory requirements for the construction of your chosen building. Identify the potential design that maximises the profit of this project. (for the construction company) List the types of Building approvals required Describe what is needed for the Building Permit to be issued Explain the Authorities involved and their requirements. Show the following Services details: Legal Point of Discharge, gas, water, sewer, power, stormwater, use dial before you dig for mains plans. What Civil design – Council compliance may be required. Give 3 examples of Communication with authorities.

2. Project Details: Describe your Demolition assessment. Describe the Details of possible design problems as the consultant team work through the design development. Explain the Suitability of subcontractors and suppliers (materials etc.).







3 Describe the contractual arrangement between the client (developer) and building contractor (principal/head contractor) taking into consideration the following: Subcontractor selection, availability, and construction techniques. The contractual risks using AS4000 unless there is a contract specified. Advantages and disadvantages of their contractual requirements. Suggest an alternative contract as an option and discuss why you chose that option.

4. Site description: Assess the area around the site and provide a site description Identify and list possible constraints Explain how Access to the site is to be achieved Prepare a Dilapidation report 5 Subcontractor selection: Describe the Size of the sub-contractor Describe their Financial capacity Describe their Expertise List the Plant and equipment required for the project Describe their Labour force All criteria listed in Section E – Marking Guide must be addressed satisfactorily to be deemed competent. Criteria for assessment that is not satisfactory must be resubmitted.

Reasonable adjustment  Reasonable adjustment is an individualised modification made to the training delivery or assessment methods to enable a student with specific needs to access and participate. Reasonable adjustment may include changed assessment conditions, flexibility in assessments, other academic support, provision of adaptive equipment and in class support. Reasonable adjustment is applied within the start date and end date for the subject/unit being undertaken. Work MUST be submitted by the due date. Deferred assessment An Application for Deferred Assessment can only be made if the assessment task has not been completed by the due date. If the assessment task has been completed, an APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION must be made. No work will be accepted after the end date of the course
